Individual Volunteer Opportunities

kitchenassistant1.jpgAre you a star in the kitchen looking for a regular opportunity to support DWC’s vital meals program?

DWC prides itself on serving healthy and delicious food to the women who join us in our drop-in Day Center. As a part of the Kitchen team, the Kitchen Assistant works directly with the Kitchen Coordinator, Cooks, and DWC participant volunteers to prepare meals, maintain the kitchen, and manage food inventory.

Training and a regular commitment required. Individual opportunity


snackpacks1.jpgSeeking an off-site team-building experience that has an immediate impact for the women of DWC?

Purchase and prepare 75 snacks that will be used for outings, events, and individuals who visit DWC’s drop-in Day Center. We will provide guidance on what to include.

This opportunity is available on weekdays or weekends at DWC. Snack packs can also be prepared off-site. (If you prepare off-site, we would love to give your group a tour of the Center when you visit for your snack pack drop-off.)

hygienekits1.jpgSeeking an off-site team-building experience that has an immediate impact for the women of DWC?

DWC’s Day Center offers more than 20,000 showers a year – that’s more than 60 showers a day! For women who visit DWC for showers, these hygiene kits provide them with fresh supplies.

Purchase and assemble hygiene kits with your group. We provide guidelines on what to include and how to put together a kit.

donationsorting1.jpgDo you enjoy hands-on projects and systematic organizing – or do you have an eye for retail merchandising?

DWC receives a wide array of in-kind donations, including clothing, accessories, personal care products, and household items. Help us sort, organize, and distribute these donations across our programs.

It's a great team-building activity for groups! Or take the next step and sign up to be a Donation Sorting Leader*!

Available on-site at DWC for two- to three-hour shifts, Tuesday through Saturday. Individual or group opportunity (5-8 people)

donationdrive1.jpgDo you want to provide vital resources to women in need? Rally your friends or colleagues in a donation drive to gather clothing, food, or hygiene products to support the women of DWC.

The needs of the women served by DWC are diverse, but clothing and hygiene products for our Day Center participants, canned or dry staples for our kitchen, or household items for our newly housed residents are always in demand. Coordinate a drive with your group to help meet this need!

This is an off-site project, but it requires a scheduled drop-off.

frontdeskhost1.jpgAre you outgoing and helpful? Looking for an opportunity that includes lots of interaction with the women? Join our Day Center Front Desk.

Assist our busy Day Center staff by welcoming participants and visitors to DWC, providing support in answering questions and directing women to resources, and performing basic administrative tasks. 

Training and a weekly commitment are required. Individual opportunity


residencehost2.jpgAre you a natural problem-solver? Do you want to build relationships with DWC’s residents? Join our Residence Host team!

DWC provides 24-hour/7 day-a-week staffing of our Residence to answer questions, troubleshoot problems, and provide support to our residents. Volunteers help us ensure coverage during our Resident Manager dinner breaks from 5:00pm-7:00pm. This is a great opportunity to put problem-solving skills to work and to meet and build relationships with our amazing residents.

Gain valuable office skills and support the day-to-day operations of DWC. Assist DWC’s busy staff by answering phones, assisting participants and staff with copies and mailing, and providing general administrative support.

DWC’s Learning Center offers computers, books, and an array of resources and classes designed to help the women of DWC achieve their education and employment goals. Learning Center Assistants provide one-on-one support and computer assistance during open lab hours.

Are you a creative soul looking for an opportunity to help others explore their creativity?

MADE by DWC's one-of-a-kind handMADE products are created by the women of DWC using recycled and repurposed materials with a commitment to connecting social profit to environmental sustainability. Product development workshops equip women with social and vocational skills in a supportive environment where women rebuild self-esteem, discover talents, develop skills, and earn income.

We are seeking Workshop Assistants and Leaders to help facilitate these product development sessions.

MADEstoreassistant1.jpgRetail experience? Interested in social enterprise? MADE by DWC is the place for you.

DWC’s Café and Gift Shop and our Resale Boutique are social enterprises offering job readiness skill-building to our participants as well as a source of revenue to support the Center’s program operations. Assist the staff and participants in the stores by providing customer service, organizing merchandise, and much more!

Training and weekly commitment are required. Individual opportunity


MADEproductprep.jpgDo you have an eye for merchandising and an impeccable commitment to quality? Help our MADE by DWC team ready products for sale in our stores!

DWC’s Café and Gift Shop and our Resale Boutique are social enterprises offering job readiness skill-building to our participants as well as a source of revenue to support the Center’s program operations. Assist the staff and participants in selecting and preparing merchandise for resale and/or fulfilling wholesale orders.
