Events are a fun way to gather friends, raise awareness about ending homelessness among women, and raise funds to support DWC!
- Mary invited her friends together for an evening of wine tasting and asked each of them to contribute to a fund to provide undergarments for women residing in Skid Row.
- Renee requested pledges from friends to support her first marathon – and she donated all the money she raised to DWC.
- Staff from Holland+Knight reached out to Bloomingdale’s to organize a special shopping benefit for DWC.
Do you have an idea for an event? Follow these steps to get started.
STEP #1: GET IN THE KNOW
Review our Event Guidelines:
I. We ask that all fundraising events in support of the Downtown Women’s Center receive written permission from DWC prior to the start of the event.
II. The approval process includes filling out a brief application outlining details of your proposed event and target audience, as well as a proposed budget. Please allow 3-5 business days for a response.
III. If your event is approved, we will ask you or a representative from your organization to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with DWC.
IV. Promotional materials: All promotional materials or press releases for the event that mention the Downtown Women’s Center must be pre-approved by DWC. We promote all approved fundraisers on our Events Calendar and are able to feature a limited number of events through our social media.
V. DWC values: Please keep in mind that the women we serve at DWC are our priority. All external fundraising events should fit with our mission of creating a safe and healthy community fostering dignity and respect for homeless and extremely low-income women.
STEP #2: APPLY
If your mission and event comply with the Guidelines listed above, please complete our DWC Event Application.
STEP #3: PLAN
A DWC staff member will contact you within 3-5 business days to discuss next steps for your event.
