The Downtown Women's Center is committed to helping women end the cycle of poverty and unemployment. Through our social enterprise program, SET to Create, we empower women with the skills to succeed in the workplace, and provide opportunities to showcase the creativity and talent of the DWC community!
Volunteers support SET to Create by serving as Workshop Facilitators, and lead women as they create products to be sold in our stores. The proceeds from the sale of the products not only benefit the SET to Create and SET to Work program, but also serve as an alternative source of income for the women who create them. Products range from handmade candles and soaps to jewelry and hand-bound journals. Check out the full range of products!
If you have crafting skills you're itching to put to use, then SET to Create might be a great fit for you! Volunteers commit to leading a class for 6 months, and are trained on-site by SET to Create staff.
We regularly recruit for our Product Packaging shifts, which take place every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 1pm-2:45pm.
